Organic-Hydroponic Lettuce and Herbs,
Hamden, Connecticut
Nelson and Pade,
Inc. oversaw the construction of the first two greenhouse bays and the wheat grass house. The initial two
bays cover 44’ x 128’ and plans are in place for four additional
bays. The owner has been growing herbs
and fancy lettuce in a small system for years and has his
techniques down and marketing in place. The new greenhouse
is located on a four acre parcel that at one time was farm
land but has since been urbanized. Also on the 4 acres is
the original 200+ year old farm home. The owner will
offer his fresh fancy lettuce, herbs, micro greens and wheat
grass at an onsite farm stand as well as local food markets and
farmer's markets. This project is essentially turning the
property back to its roots...agriculture, but with high tech
methods...hydroponics.
