Aquaponics Journal is a quarterly, color publication dedicated to gardeners and fish culturists who utilize the unique technologies of aquaponics, aquaculture and hydroponics.

You can read articles, look through back issues and learn more at the new Aquaponics Journal website.  www.aquaponicsjournal.com

Aquaponics is simply the combination of recirculating aquaculture (intensive culture of fish) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil). In an aquaponic system fish consume food and excrete waste, primarily in the form of ammonia. Bacteria convert the ammonia to nitrite and then to nitrate, which the plants consume.

With each issue of Aquaponics Journal readers discover the newest technologies and research on aquaponics, aquaculture and hydroponics, meet fascinating people who successfully use these methods of growing, learn of commercial, hobby, research and educational applications of aquaponics and learn new techniques they can employ in their own growing systems. Each issue includes Feature Articles, Editor’s Note, Industry News, Question and Answer by Dr. James Rakocy, Calendar of Events, New Products  and a Resource List.

In this new millennium, it is more important than ever to find means of cultivating food that do not have a negative effect on our planet and it's inhabitants. Aquaponics, aquaculture, and hydroponics all can be used to produce large quantities of food in very small spaces, in an environmentally friendly way. The Aquaponics Journal is an excellent source of information on these fascinating technologies.

Back Issues are available in their original printed format or as collections on CD-Rom!
